Something that I have discovered since I began photographing places to illustrate my publications, is that through the images everything looks different.

There are places that escape our gaze, but magically taking a picture of them makes us admire them in a different way than we always used to, an image gives me a new perspective, where I can better appreciate the details of things and rediscover them (and I only photograph from my cell phone) .... I guess that's the magic of photographs, that beauty is often hidden from our sight, and we can make it emerge through a portrait.

And yes, I know, this is about Architecture and Design, but I can't separate one thing from the other, because this is what happened to me with the site I describe in my publication.

Its name is "The Pedregal (The Scree)" and it is located between 23rd Street and 198th Street in the La Coronela neighborhood.

A stony area is an area covered with stones, and that is precisely why it bears this name, since stone is the main material in its design and decoration.
In its exterior and interior gardens, you can appreciate different stones of different sizes, there are also stones in the masonry of its walls and columns which are cobbled almost entirely, which gives the place a rustic touch that makes us feel closer to everything natural. I live in a somewhat rural environment, so I feel very comfortable with this type of decoration.

My friend @lileisabel had been telling me for several days to photograph this site because it is very beautiful, and I do not regret having followed her advice, because for me in the photos I took you can appreciate all the beauty that surrounds it.

A few years ago, "The Pedregal" was very visited and quite crowded, since it was a gastronomic complex; with restaurant, barbecue, snack bar... After the pandemic of the Covid where many places of this type closed and our economy suffered a great deterioration, the place was also losing part of its splendor.

Before, it was always full of people, its premises all open to the public. From its terraces you could see family and friends sitting at the tables, sharing, chatting happily and enjoying its different offers. But now the whole place is pretty desolate.

Although it is quite a beautiful site, and this can be seen in its ceilings and roofs.
The exterior has a gable roof covered by brown tiles that are the first thing we notice when we see it from a distance and get closer. Its ceilings are also of great beauty, (and this is what I was referring to at the beginning when I said that photos help me to see places with different eyes, because I confess that I had never realized before how beautiful they are) they are mostly covered by wooden slats, which combine perfectly with the natural and cozy atmosphere that surrounds the whole space.

The Pedregal covers quite a large area, with several establishments. Currently only one is open, which serves as a food supply store. Most of its premises are closed, and this is a pity since it has spacious rooms with large terraces and windows that provide a very pleasant natural lighting, and this was one of its main attractions.

Even so, I really liked the only room that is open, especially the lamps hanging from the ceiling, the large windows, and the way in which the vegetation is integrated with the decoration of the place. I love the plants, and in every corner you can see the green color of the leaves of areca and ferns, which give us a very gratifying feeling of freshness.

What is a little sad is that such a beautiful place is almost completely closed and that it is not given the necessary care. And seeing it so lonely like this gave me a feeling of abandonment that made me feel a little melancholic and I could not help but feel a little nostalgic when I remembered it as it was some time ago.

But it still retains much of its beauty and is a very nice place. So I really hope that at some point it recovers the influx of people that it had so that it can again be a cheerful place, where you can spend pleasant and unforgettable moments.

Algo que he descubierto desde que estoy fotografiando los lugares para ilustrar mis publicaciones, es que a través de las imágenes todo luce de diferente manera.

Hay lugares que escapan a nuestra mirada, pero que mágicamente al hacerles una foto hace que los admiremos de una forma distinta a como acostumbramos siempre, una imagen me da una perspectiva nueva, donde puedo apreciar mejor los detalles de las cosas y redescubrirlas (y eso que solo fotografío desde el móvil) ... Supongo que ahí radica la magia de las fotografías, en que la belleza muchas veces esta oculta a nuestra vista, y que podemos hacerla surgir a través de un retrato.

Y si ya se, este escrito es sobre Arquitectura y Diseño, pero es que no logro separar una cosa de la otra, porque esto fue lo que me sucedió con el sitio que describo en mi publicación.

Su nombre es: "El Pedregal" y se encuentra ubicado entre la calle 23 y la calle 198 del reparto La Coronela.

Un pedregal es una zona cubierta de piedras, y precisamente por esto es que lleva ese nombre, ya que la piedra es el principal material en su diseño y decoración.
En sus jardines exteriores e interiores, se aprecian piedras diferentes y de distintos tamaños, también hay piedras en la mampostería de sus paredes y columnas las cuales están empedradas casi en su totalidad, lo que le da al lugar un toque rústico que nos hace sentir más cerca de todo lo natural. Yo vivo en un ambiente un tanto rural, por lo que me siento muy a gusto con este tipo de decoracion.

Mi amiga @lileisabel llevaba varios días diciéndome que fotografiara este sitio porque es muy hermoso, y no me arrepiento de haber seguido su consejo, ya que para mí en las fotos que hice se puede apreciar todo lo bello que lo rodea.

“El Pedregal” hace unos pocos años atrás, era muy visitado y bastante concurrido, ya que era un complejo gastronómico; con restaurante, parrillada, snack bar... Después de la pandemia de la Covid en donde muchos sitios de este tipo cerraron y que nuestra economía sufrió un gran deterioro, el lugar también fue perdiendo parte de su esplendor.

Antes, siempre estaba lleno de personas, sus locales todos abiertos al público. Desde sus terrazas se podía ver a familiares y amigos sentados a las mesas, compartiendo, charlando alegremente y disfrutando de sus diferentes ofertas. Pero ahora todo el sitio está bastante desolado.

Aunque es un sitio bastante bonito, y esto se puede apreciar en sus techos y tejados.
El exterior tiene un tejado a dos aguas cubierto por tejas de color marrón que son lo primero que notamos al verlo desde la distancia e irnos acercando. Sus techos también son de una gran belleza, (y a esto me refería al principio cuando comenté que las fotos me ayudan a ver los lugares con otros ojos, porque confieso que nunca antes me había percatado de lo lindos que son) están en su mayoría cubiertos por listones de madera, que combinan a la perfección con el ambiente natural y acogedor que rodea todo este espacio.

El Pedregal abarca una zona bastante amplia, con varios locales. Actualmente sólo está abierto uno que sirve como tienda de suministros de comida. La mayoría de sus recintos están cerrados, y es una lástima ya que tiene espaciosos salones con grandes terrazas y ventanales que brindan una iluminación natural muy agradable, y esto era uno de sus mayores atractivos.

Aun así, el único salón que tiene abierto me gustó mucho, sobre todo las lámparas que cuelgan de su techo, sus grandes ventanales, y la manera en que se integra la vegetación con la decoración del lugar. Me encantan las plantas, y en cada rincón se puede observar el color verde de las hojas de arecas y helechos, que nos brindan una sensación de frescura muy gratificante.

Lo que da un poco de pena es que un lugar tan bonito este casi cerrado en su totalidad y que no se le preste el cuidado necesario. Y verlo así tan solitario me provocó una sensación de abandono que me hizo sentir un poco melancólica y no pude evitar sentir algo de nostalgia al recordarlo como era tiempo atrás.

Pero aún conserva gran parte de su belleza y es un sitio muy agradable. Por lo que en verdad espero que en algún momento recobre la afluencia de personas que tuvo para que vuelva a ser un lugar alegre, donde poder pasar momentos placenteros e inolvidables.
