At the corner of Oficios and Obrapía streets, in Old Havana, there is a building that seen from the outside, looks like just another among the many built in the 17th century, but it only takes crossing its threshold to discover a place of unique beauty. It is Hostal Valencia, a true architectural landmark that has been restored so that it preserves to this day the same charm and splendor it had in another era.
It is an old colonial house laden with the history of centuries. Where we can feel in every corner of the Hostal the tradition of other times. Upon entering one feels transported to a time when elegance was simple and life passed more calmly.
The atmosphere is cozy and natural. The interior design, from the furniture to the walls and doors, is made with simple materials that further reinforce that old fashioned air throughout the place. The columns and arches so characteristic of colonial architecture, frame the entire space of the inner courtyard.
The central courtyard is open to the sky and is one of the most charming corners of the hostel. The white walls reflect the light and give a feeling of freshness and spaciousness. The wooden doors and wrought iron balconies preserve the traditional style of past centuries. All around the courtyard there are flowerpots with plants that decorate and give life to the place, as well as several string lights that create a warm atmosphere.
For me this space is perfect for having a coffee, sharing with friends, or simply letting oneself be enveloped by the silence and the beauty of the surroundings.
In addition to its architectural charm, Hostal Valencia is known for its restaurant specialized in paellas which connects it directly with Valencian culture. Its name says it all, here paella is the star dish, with great acceptance among those who come to enjoy this tasty recipe.
Hostal Valencia besides being the place where a small tribute is paid to Valencian tradition, is also a space where one can enjoy the rich history, colonial architecture, and lively local life. All in one place.

En la esquina de las calles Oficios y Obrapía, en La Habana Vieja, se encuentra una edificación que vista desde fuera, parece una más entre las muchas construidas en el siglo XVII, pero basta cruzar su umbral para descubrir un lugar de una belleza única. Se trata del Hostal Valencia, un verdadero referente arquitectónico que ha sido restaurado para que conserve hasta nuestros días el mismo encanto y el esplendor que tuvo en otra época.
Se trata de una antigua casa colonial cargada con la historia de los siglos. Donde podemos sentir en cada rincón del Hostal la tradición de otros tiempos. Al entrar uno se siente transportado a un tiempo donde la elegancia era sencilla y la vida transcurría con más calma.
El ambiente es acogedor y natural. El diseño interior desde los muebles hasta las paredes y puertas está hecho con materiales sencillos que refuerzan aún más ese aire antiguo en todo el lugar. Las columnas y arcos tan característicos de la arquitectura colonial enmarcan todo el espacio del patio interior.
El patio central está abierto al cielo y es uno de los rincones más encantadores del hostal. Las paredes blancas reflejan la luz y dan una sensación de frescura y amplitud. Las puertas de madera y los balcones de hierro forjado conservan el estilo tradicional de los siglos pasados. Por todo el patio hay macetas con plantas que decoran y dan vida al lugar, también varias luces de guirnaldas que crean un ambiente cálido.
Para mí este espacio es perfecto para tomar un café, compartir con amigos o simplemente dejarse envolver por el silencio y la belleza del entorno.
Además de su encanto arquitectónico, el Hostal Valencia es conocido por su restaurante especializado en paellas, lo que lo conecta directamente con la cultura valenciana. Su nombre lo dice todo, aquí la paella es el plato estrella, con mucha aceptación por quienes vienen a disfrutar de esta sabrosa receta.
El Hostal Valencia además de ser el lugar donde se le rinde un pequeño culto a la tradición valenciana, es un espacio donde se puede disfrutar de la rica historia, la arquitectura colonial y la animada vida local. Todo en un mismo sitio.
