It happens to me a lot that when I walk through Old Havana I entertain myself mainly by taking photographs of almost everything. Sometimes they are several of the same place, and I have a bit of an obsession with almost always taking photos of the same sites, because for me they are some of the most beautiful, spacious, and full of life. They are spaces where one can enjoy the architecture of the different styles that characterize the city and where some of the most majestic and iconic buildings of the capital are found.
That is why in this publication I am going to compile the photos that I have liked the most from the area of Paseo del Prado Avenue, where the Capitol, the Alicia Alonso Grand Theater, the Central Park, and, just a few meters away, the Museum of Universal Art are located.
All these buildings are symbols of the city and each one represents a key point of Old Havana, since they can be seen from a distance and are very distinctive. They are majestic buildings that we cannot help but notice, whether because of their admirable architecture or their impressive size. It is undeniable that they were built to impress, as displays of power, culture, and knowledge.
Another thing that always captures me about Old Havana and precisely about this area is that being there one has the sensation of living in two eras at the same time.
On one hand we see a lot of old buildings and on the other modern cars go along mixed with classic cars from the fifties, very common throughout Cuba but especially abundant in this part. Many times groups of tourists pass by in them since they rent them to stroll and enjoy the view of the most important sites of Old Havana.
There are also places where horse-drawn carriages appear as if they were a natural part of the landscape, and it is then when I have the sensation that the past has never gone away and that it coexists with the present in a unique way.
These public spaces, open to anyone who wants to walk or visit, are for me the most special that Old Havana offers. This is a place where history mixes with everyday life, and that is why the best thing is to go through each place calmly, stopping to admire the details. That is why I always return and take photos of the same streets, because each time they seem different to me, and I know that even though the photos are repeated, each walk gives me a new way of seeing the city.
I hope you have enjoyed this small tour and that these photos transmit at least a part of the beauty and the energy that is felt when walking through Old Havana.

Me sucede mucho que cuando recorro La Habana Vieja me entretengo principalmente tomando fotografías de casi todo. A veces son varias del mismo lugar, y tengo un poco de obsesión con tomar fotos casi siempre de los mismos sitios, porque para mí son unos de los más bonitos, amplios y llenos de vida. Son espacios donde se puede disfrutar de la arquitectura de los diferentes estilos que caracterizan la ciudad y donde se encuentran algunas de las edificaciones más majestuosas e icónicas de la capital.
Es por eso que en esta publicación voy a recopilar las fotos que más me han gustado de la zona de la Avenida Paseo del Prado, donde se encuentra el Capitolio, el Gran Teatro Alicia Alonso, el Parque Central y, a solo unos pocos metros, el Museo de Arte Universal.
Todas estas edificaciones son símbolos de la ciudad y cada una representa un punto clave de La Habana Vieja, ya que se pueden ver desde la distancia y son muy distintivas. Son edificios majestuosos en los que no podemos dejar de fijarnos, ya sea por su admirable arquitectura o por su impresionante extensión. Es indudable que fueron construidos para impresionar, como muestras de poder, cultura y conocimiento.
Otra cosa que siempre me atrapa de La Habana Vieja y precisamente de esta zona es que al estar allí se tiene la sensación de vivir en dos épocas al mismo tiempo.
Por un lado vemos un montón de edificios antiguos y por otro la recorren coches modernos mezclados con autos clásicos de los años cincuenta, muy comunes en toda Cuba pero especialmente abundantes en esta parte. Muchas veces pasan grupos de turistas en ellos ya que los alquilan para pasear y disfrutar de la vista de los sitios más importantes de La Habana Vieja.
También hay lugares donde aparecen coches tirados por caballos como si fueran parte natural del paisaje, y es entonces cuando tengo la sensación de que el pasado nunca se ha ido y que convive con el presente de una manera única.
Estos espacios públicos, abiertos a todo el que quiera caminar o visitar, son para mí lo más especial que ofrece La Habana Vieja. Este es un lugar donde la historia se mezcla con la vida cotidiana, y es por eso que lo mejor es recorrer cada lugar con calma, deteniéndonos en admirar los detalles. Es por eso siempre vuelvo y saco fotos de las mismas calles, porque cada vez me parecen diferentes, y sé que, aunque las fotos se repitan, cada recorrido me regala una nueva manera de ver la ciudad.
Espero que hayan disfrutado de este pequeño recorrido y que estas fotos transmitan al menos una parte de la belleza y la energía que se siente al caminar por La Habana Vieja.
